Hi, I’m Maxx Katz. I like music.
I started playing flute in the womb. I was an awesome little classical flutist who got sidetracked somewhere, started studying jazz and performance and hanging out with weirdos, and ended up with a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Critical and Comparative Studies in Music (mainly ethnomusicology) from UVA.
I’ve played classical flute in genteel, estimable ensembles, in genteel and estimable places. Like the great cathedrals of the world, and the White House, and the New York City subway. I’ve also played electric guitar in offensively titled metal bands, screaming my head off in grimy basements and underground art warehouses across our great nation and Europe, with fellow genteel and estimable rockers.
Why not?
My interest in musical expression knows few bounds, and I like to share cool things via the internet.
